Business Continuity Awareness Week (May 19-23, 2025) is an annual event to raise awareness of Business Continuity across the University. This is an opportunity for the BC team to promote a range of resources covering Business Continuity Planning.

Be Prepared. Know Your Risks.

May 5th - Making a Plan & Preparing a Kit
Emergencies can happen at any time and without warning. Be ready. With a little preparation, you can respond quickly to help yourself and others.
Understand the risks in your area, create a household emergency plan and build an emergency kit.

May 6th - Sign up for McGill Emergency Notification System
There are several ways that McGill community members can receive alerts about emergencies that may affect their health or safety:
- Text Messages
- Desktop Notifications
- McGill Email

May 7th - Emergency Procedures & Protocols
Just in case, be ready for emergencies by knowing the procedures.
For example, in case of medical emergency or if you need an ambulance:
- Call 911
- Call Security at
- 514-398-3000 (Downtown) or
- 514 398 7777 (Macdonald)
so that they can provide the necessary escort.

May 8th - Active Threat Training
This training video is designed to empower individuals with knowledge and strategies for recognizing and surviving an active shooter situation, no matter how unlikely that is.
May 9th - Introduction to McGill’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM)
The Office of Emergency Management is committed to supporting the University’s mission to advance learning and create and disseminate knowledge by administering comprehensive emergency management and business continuity programs. We collaborate with McGill stakeholders and external partners to promote safety and organizational resilience.
