Covid-19 FAQs (Latest updates on March 19, 2021)

University-sponsored international travel and travel within Canada remain suspended until further notice. The Arts Internship Office is unable to fund or issue documents related to internships that involve travel or in-person internships that are outside of Canada. Documents include Letter of Support, Credit Approval Form, Co-curricular Record, and the Déclaration relative à la participation étudiant à activité étudiante (convention de stage). If your internship can be done fully remotely, please contact the Arts Internship Office.

1. As the campus is closed, how can I reach out to the Arts Internship Office?

The Arts Internship Office team is currently operating remotely. Our services are available online. If you wish to schedule an appointment with the AIO or attend drop-in sessions, please visit this page or write to aio [at] mcgill.ca. You are welcome to attend AIO virtual events.

2. I was planning on doing an international internship. What is going to happen?

If you are planning to do an international internship, the Arts Internship Office can only approve internships that can be done fully remotely. The Arts Internship Office is unable to fund or issue documents related to internships that involve travel or any in-person internships that are outside of Canada.

3. I was planning to apply for Arts Internship Awards for my international internship. Am I still eligible?

If you are planning to do an international internship, the Arts Internship Office can only fund internships that can be done fully remotely. 4. I was planning to apply for Arts Internship Awards for my internship within Canada. Am I still eligible?

Yes. You may apply for the Arts Internship Awards if you conduct the internship fully remotely, without any travel.

5. Can I travel within Canada to do an internship?

University-sponsored international travel and travel within Canada remain suspended until further notice. No travel is permitted for an internship.

6. How can I get signatures for documents as everyone is supposed to work remotely?

AIO will accept digital signatures or email approvals for documents given the current situation. Please see the following guidance:

For Digital Signatures, in Adobe, there is an option to upload the personal signature. This option is preferable, however digitally signed documents will be accepted. For Email Approvals, the signer should indicate he/she has reviewed the document and gives approval in the email sent to aio [at] mcgill.ca.

7. Document requests

The Arts Internship Office is unable to fund or issue documents related to internships that involve travel or in-person internships outside of Canada. 9. How can I get an internship credits approval form signed by the Arts Internship Office? 

Approval of the internship is required from the Arts Internship Office prior to the beginning of the internship. The Arts Internship Office is unable to issue documents related to internships that involve travel or in-person internships outside of Canada. Please fill out the Internship Plan-Covid 19  and submit to the Arts Internship Office (aio [at] mcgill.ca) for review. Once the required information is received, the Arts Internship Office is able to start the regular document process.
