With the removal of the global travel advisory, McGill will now be able to return to pre-pandemic travel conditions, allowing for freer movement of students, faculty and staff.

Airfare Cancellation

The purchase of airfare cancellation insurance is recommended and reimbursable by the University

  • Direct Travel is offering McGill travelers a preferred rate on a Manulife insurance package applicable to airfares only.
  • Further details about eligible coverage (medical related) can be found on PDF icon Manulife Abridged Airfare Cancellation Policy
  • Refer to PDF icon Manulife Definitions Airfare Cancellation Policy in order to fully understand the coverage.  
  • This insurance reimburses the costs associated with the canceling of a trip based only on the illness of the Traveler and his/her immediate family.
  • Travelers are encouraged to check into purchasing this insurance when they buy their airline ticket.
  • When making airfare bookings for Visitors, it is prudent to include this insurance at the time of booking.
  • Consider downloading the Travel Aid app.
  • If making a claim and McGill should be reimbursed directly please indicate this in section D of the claim form: McGill University (please send to Travel Desk c/o Kim Bellizzi, 3465 Durocher Room 216, Montreal QC H2X0A8).





University Travel Registration Form for Faculty and Staff

It is imperative that you register your travel information using the on-line University Travel Registration form for Faculty and Staff. If you are not already logged in, you will be required to log-in for access.

Under Travel Health Notices the Public Health Agency of Canada outline potential health risks to Canadian travelers and recommend ways to help reduce them.
