Airtable - TONE Publications Table

See below for TONE's complete list of publications related to timbre and orchestration, organized in the Airtable platform by category, title, year of publication and DOI. This list has been compiled since the beginning of the ACTOR (Analysis, Creation and Teaching of Orchestration) project in 2018, and it includes publication involving ACTOR and TONE members.

Once the document is accessed, it may be sorted and/or filtered to best suit one's needs. For more information, contact the Project Manager, Andre Oliveira (actor-project.music [at] mcgill.ca (actor-project[dot]music[at]mcgill[dot]ca))

Zotero - TONE Library

TONE Library

The TONE Library is a bibliographic database for timbre research. It includes articles across disciplines, including (but not limited to) music psychology, orchestration, acoustics, and music technology. The library is organized into topic folders by general research area. See the topic folder descriptions below:

How to use Zotero

The TONE Library is hosted on Zotero, an intuitive bibliography software that you can download or use in a browser. Here is a guide to the general interface.

Please note that, unlike the TONE Publications Table in Airtable shown above, this library is not limited to publications by ACTOR or TOR members.

Tagging System

We have also created a tagging system to help you find related articles. The full tagging chart is attached in the library (check it out here). The tags include topics, methodologies, names of composers/theorists, instruments, music genres, sound stimuli, and participant groups.

You don’t have to just look! Export any number of citations by selecting the items you are interested in and pressing the “Export” button. You can then choose from multiple citation formats (e.g. BibTeX, RIS, CSV...) and download them directly into your personal library (on Zotero, EndNote, etc). Here is a guide to exporting and citing.
