TONE Project Funding supports innovative research and pilot initiatives led by TONE members across its various Sub-Axes. These projects are intended to catalyze future external funding opportunities or lay the groundwork for sustained, independent research agendas.

Funding is awarded across three primary categories:

  1. Strategic Projects: Research-driven initiatives that advance TONE’s core objectives.
  2. Research‑Creation Projects: Projects that integrate creative practice with scholarly inquiry.
  3. Student Collaborative Projects: Interdisciplinary collaborations involving students from two different institutions.

Expected outcomes include joint scholarly publications, new modules for the Timbre and Orchestration Resource (TOR), public presentations showcasing TONE research, and the creation, premiere, or recording of original musical works. Priority is given to interdisciplinary projects that closely align with TONE’s overarching mandate.
