About

The TONE Student Symposia on Orchestration Research showcase presentations by Student Members on topics aligned with TONE’s mandate. Each symposium typically features four presentations, followed by a dedicated discussion period including feedback, dialogue, and interdisciplinary exchange.

The symposia are held twice a year and are organized by TONE postdoctoral researchers in partnership with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT). To maximize accessibility and participation across the network, all events are offered in a hybrid format.

Proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis, and submissions from all disciplines, research traditions, and methodological approaches represented within TONE are encouraged. Students interested in presenting should send the following information to tone [at] mcgill.ca (tone[at]mcgill[dot]ca):

  • Presentation title
  • Abstract (maximum 250 words)
  • Presenter’s name and institutional affiliation
