Jewish General Hospital

The Division of Neonatology (Jewish General Hospital) is a regional perinatal center. It provides patient care, training and research opportunities. This Level III Neonatal Unit presently has 34 beds. Our unit is presently located in a newly built facility with a mix of single patient rooms and pods with 6 beds per pod. The NICU is a busy environment with a high level of acuity and admits close to 600 patients per year of whom nearly 200 babies are born to mothers transferred antenatally from different hospitals for specialized care. We deliver approximately 1 baby under 28 weeks every 5-7 days. Also, the unit receives a substantial number of postnatal transfers of sick newborns. Outcomes of our premature infants are excellent with the two smallest survivors having a birth weight of 375 and 380 grams, and both developing very well.
