Our Faculty Commitment

The McGill Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) is committed to promoting and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism to provide an inclusive, healthy and safe learning and working environment for all. We stand together for equity, diversity and inclusion, without exception. We recognize that we must continuously strive to do better, taking action as a community with a shared mission in a way that reflects our core values, among them: compassion, integrity, openness, fairness and respect for one another.

We are committed to leading by example in our interactions, working hard to avoid all forms of harm in what we say. We can only achieve our mission of serving society in an environment that brings out the best in who we teach, work and learn with, and care for in our community. This is integral to what we do.

We must remember that our words matter.

Refer to the Faculty’s Code of Conduct to know more about the professional and ethical standards we, as members of McGill’s health care and sciences community, live by and model.

EDI Action Plans

FMHS Action Plan to Address Anti-Black Racism, developed in consultation with Faculty community stakeholders including students, faculty and staff, and aligned with the McGill plan.

McGill’s Action Plan to Address Anti-Black Racism seeks to initiate a process of acknowledgement of our University’s historic connections to the transatlantic slave trade and its enduring legacies.

Truth & Reconciliation at McGill: 52 calls to action embodies the duties incumbent upon us to heed the TRC’s Calls to Action, recognizing and honouring our Indigenous community members and partners.

McGill Initiative Against Islamophobia and Antisemitism, created in response to a growing number of reports from students and staff of Muslim and Jewish identity of experiences that have led them to feel marginalized, alienated, and/or discriminated.

Learner Wellness

The FMHS Well Office offers counselling and support to the Faculty's health profession learners.

The Student Wellness Hub offers health and wellness services and programming to all McGill learners, including FMHS graduate students.
