Welcome to the School of Biomedical Sciences at McGill University
The School of Biomedical Sciences (SBMS) was created in April 2020 as part of Project Renaissance, a strategic planning exercise for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The School federates all biomedical research and education activities within the Faculty. Our nine constituent units bring together internationally renowned teams in all areas of biomedical research, creating stimulating environments with innovative and interdisciplinary training programs.
Unwavering support to our colleagues
We live in challenging times where support for science, research, and academic freedom is being questioned. As researchers, educators, and learners, we must stand together with our colleagues wherever they may be to support science and research that allows all of us to do what we do best - from identifying mechanisms to fight infectious diseases such as COVID-19, to discovering new treatments for cancer, to understanding changes to the brain in Alzheimer’s disease - work together to confront the limits of our knowledge and perform life-saving research. Preserving investments in science and research also assures the training of new leaders that will ensure future generations enjoy happier and healthier lives.
We are committed to providing an inclusive environment where all feel welcomed, respected and safe. As members of the McGill Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, this is at the heart of who we are and what we do.
