Highlights

The National Autonomous University of Mexico, founded in 1551, is the oldest university in North America, and one of the largest. UNAM is a renowned university with 13 colleges, offering courses in a variety of fields.

The campus is a UNESCO World Heritage site that was designed by some of Mexico's best-known architects of the 20th century. Murals on the main campus were painted by some of the most recognized artists in Mexican history, such as Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueros.

 

Important information

  • UNAM has very specific Spanish-language proficiency requirements. If you are nominated to UNAM, you are responsible for taking a language test from the required provider (see UNAM's fact sheet). Please verify that the test is available in your location and application period. 
  • If you plan on taking courses exclusively in English, a Spanish proficiency certificate is not required. Please note that the list of courses taught in English is limited.
