[Hybrid] Reconciliation and Resistance: Where Are We Now?
Join us for a keynote conversation with Dr. Niigaan Sinclair, Anishinaabe writer, award-winning columnist for the Winnipeg Free Press, and Professor of Native Studies at the University of Manitoba. As the son of the late Honourable Murray Sinclair, Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, Dr. Sinclair brings a deeply personal and critical lens to this reflection on the TRC’s Final Report, ten years later. Moderated by Dr. Veldon Coburn, Faculty Chair of Indigenous Relations Initiatives, this event explores the progress, tensions, and responsibilities that have emerged since the release of the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action. What does meaningful reconciliation look like in post-secondary education? How do Indigenous voices continue to challenge and shape institutional change?
Please note:
Because STM strike action may complicate travel to McGill’s downtown campus, this is now a hybrid event:
