The IHSE is pleased to announce the inaugural Richard and Sylvia Cruess Symposium on Scholarship in Health Sciences Education: Insights and Innovations on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

We will welcome as guests two well-known education scholars: Lara Varpio, PhD, Professor, Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, University of Pennsylvania; Co-Director of Research in Medical Education, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Tina Martimianakis, PhD, Professor and Director of Medical Education Scholarship; Department of Paediatrics, and Associate Director, Collaborations and Partnerships, Wilson Centre, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.

In addition, the IHSE will showcase research and innovation in Health Sciences Education from faculty members and students in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill and beyond. We are seeking abstracts in any area of health sciences education research or innovation. We encourage you to join us in discussing emerging educational trends and innovations as well as cross cutting, interdisciplinary education research, and scholarship.

Across four decades, Dr. Richard Cruess and Dr. Sylvia Cruess have changed the face of medical education through ground-breaking scholarship and visionary leadership. They have championed the interdisciplinary field of health sciences education, and we are thrilled to name our inaugural symposium in their honour.
