Registration - Fall 2023
All new students accepted for the Fall 2023 term must confirm that they accept their offer of admission, and pay the confirmation deposit, if applicable, before they can register in their program of admission.
New and returning students must then register on Minerva for both the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 terms by adding the registration confirmation course REGN RCGR for both the Fall 2023 (CRN 179) and the Winter 2024 (CRN 190) terms.
Take note of the registration periods listed below to avoid late registration fees.

New and returning students who have not registered by August 14, 2023 may still access Minerva to register late from August 15, 2023 to September 12, 2023. A late registration fee will apply.
All registered students (new and returning) may add/drop courses until the deadline to add/drop courses for each term.
Returning students in thesis programs who have a “time limitation” hold on their record will be blocked from registration for the 2023-2024 academic year, but will be permitted to register with the support of the department when the thesis is ready to be submitted. Information regarding the Time Limitation Policy and procedures for readmission are available at Time Limitation.
*NOTE 1 : All students must register continuously in every term during their program, unless they request a leave of absence. Any student who does not register continuously will be withdrawn from the University as of their first unregistered term. To resume their studies, the student must then submit a request for readmission.
*NOTE 2 : All new students must complete the mandatory online Academic Integrity Tutorial on Minerva, as stated in their admission letter. A reminder will be sent to new students who have not completed this tutorial at the end of October with a warning that a ‘hold’ will be placed on their record at the end of November. For new students with this ‘hold’, the hold will be expired automatically when the student completes the tutorial.

Registration - Summer 2023
Registration for new and returning graduate students opens on March 14, 2023 via Minerva for the Summer 2023 term.
New students and students who plan to register for courses only or for full-time status for the Summer 2023 term are advised to read these instructions carefully as it is the student’s responsibility to ensure the accuracy of their record and to register within the deadlines.
The deadline to register for Summer 2023 is May 1, 2023.
New* or Readmitted Students:
- Must register for the Summer 2023 term by adding the registration confirmation course REGN RCGR (CRN 851) to their record.
- Must add/drop/withdraw courses by the deadline dates specified for each course according to the Class Schedule.
*NOTE1: All new students must complete the mandatory Academic Integrity Tutorial via Minerva. At the end of May, a reminder will be sent to new students who have not completed the tutorial with a warning that a hold will be placed on their record at the beginning of July. When the tutorial is completed, the hold is automatically be lifted.
*NOTE 2: All new students must also complete the mandatory online sexual violence education program. Details available at It Takes All of Us.
Returning Students - Registration for Courses Only
- Must add/drop/withdraw courses by the deadline dates specified for each course according to the Class Schedule.
Returning Students - Registration for Full-time Status
- Returning students in Non-Thesis programs must register for a minimum of 12 credits of courses to have full-time status.
- Returning students in Thesis programs must register for course REGN STOR (CRN 850) – Confirm Summer Term of Residence to have full time status.
*NOTES:
- Only students in thesis program wishing to count their Summer 2023 term as a full-time term and advance their residency, should register for the REGN STOR course (full-time status fees will apply)
- Students in Additional Session or Thesis Continuing status should NOT register for the REGN STOR course.
Returning Students – in Thesis Programs:
Students in Thesis programs, who remain registered in the same program and who are not registering in full-time status in the Summer 2023 term, will automatically be registered by Enrolment Services as of early March 2023.
Fee Information:
Students will be charged fees according to their registration status as per the categories below:
- Thesis Continuing status -No fees charged; may register for courses
- Additional Session status – See Graduate fees (Summer 2023) | Student Accounts - McGill University ; may register for courses
- Thesis Evaluation status – See Graduate fees (Summer 2023) | Student Accounts - McGill University; may not register for courses

Registration - Winter 2023
All new students accepted for the Winter 2023 term must accept their offer of admission using their uApply account before they can register in their program of admission.
New students must then register on Minerva by adding the registration confirmation course REGN RCGR for the Winter 2023 term (CRN 190). To avoid late registration fees, students must register within the registration period listed below:

New students and readmitted students who have not registered by Wednesday, January 4, 2023 may still access Minerva to register late from January 5, 2023 to January 17, 2023. They will be charged a late registration fee.
