Featured course: In the 2021-22 academic year, the McGill Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health will offer several courses open to McGill students with an interest in Global Health including:

EPIB 677 – Critical Perspectives on Global Health - Winter 2022

Instructor: Dr. Alissa Koski
Language of Instruction: English

This reading course encourages students to interrogate and critique fundamental aspects of contemporary global health practice. Topics include the historical origins of global health, processes for identifying global health priorities, the role of multinational funding structures, and the ethical and pragmatic challenges of intervening in an effort to improve the health of populations. Throughout the course, discussions will examine how the implicit assumptions of global health practice give rise to growing critiques of it, such as recent calls to decolonize the field.

McGill University is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. McGill honours recognizes and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which peoples of the world now gather. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
