History

The Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design was first established through a generous $10-million gift from the exceptionally committed alumnus Lorne Trottier, through the Lorne Trottier Family Foundation. TISED builds on previous institute’s work, the Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (ISEAD). ISEAD was launched in 2010 with support from another devoted alumnus, Ram Panda.

Housed within McGill University, the institute has expanded to provide interdisciplinary courses for students, generous funding opportunities for research, and several annual symposiums and conferences.
