**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**

Residence Withdrawal and Associated Cancellation Fees

Application for residences are accepted and accommodation is assigned based on the understanding that students are making a commitment for the full academic year. Upon acceptance into residences, students are committing to a lease under Québec law. Students are then bound to the terms of the lease which relates to their specific residence building.

Before accepting a space in residences, please understand that students must agree to a contract for room and board (Meal Plan/oneCard) for a specific long-term period, and that operation of the housing and dining department depends on a stable resident census.

Students who withdraw from McGill University Residences for either academic or non-academic reasons will be held financially responsible as follows:

Unused balance in this account after April 30th, 2019 is non refundable nor redeemable for cash.

Please note that if you leave the University, you will be charged the full administration fee of $975 plus the prorated amount of your meal plan.

*For students in Solin and MORE leases end July 31, 2018. All other first year residence buildings including New Residence Hall, Carrefour Sherbrooke, La Citadelle, Douglas Hall, Molson Hall, Gardner Hall, McConnell Hall, Royal Victoria College and University Hall, leases end April 30, 2018.

Additional charges could apply if room keys are not returned to the respective front desk or if additional cleaning, maintenance or damage repairs are incurred during the lease.

Students living in Laird or Eco Residences are required to honor their lease obligations until the end of the academic semester; until December 31, 2017 or April 30, 2018. 

Students are permitted to assign their lease to another McGill student not currently living in residences, upon approval of the Residences Housing Office.

oneCard dollars are only refunded once a student leaves the university.
