Undergraduate

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**

Residence Withdrawal and Associated Cancellation Fees

Applications for residences are accepted and accommodation is assigned based on the understanding that students are making a commitment for the full academic year. Upon acceptance into residences, students are committing to a lease under Québec law. Students are then bound to the terms of the lease which relates to their specific residence building.

Before accepting space in residences, please understand that students must agree to a contract for room and board (Meal Plan/oneCard) for a specific long-term period, and that operation of the housing and dining department depends on a stable resident census.

The deposit which reserves your space in McGill residence is strictly non-refundable if for any reason you do not occupy that space by September 1st. Please note that if your admission is withdrawn by McGill due to an unexplained significant decline in your academic performance during the last term, you will be subject to cancellation penalties as per the dates stipulated in our cancellation policy.


Students who withdraw from McGill University Residences for either academic or non-academic reasons will be held financially responsible as follows:

Cancellation of Residence Reservation - Prior To Move-In (Saturday & Sunday)

Housing

Mandatory Meal Plan

If you withdraw from residences, you will be charged the full administration fee of $975 plus the prorated amount of your meal plan.

Valid for the duration of your studies at McGill.

oneCard dollars are only refundable once you have left the University.

Withdrawal from Residences: January 1, 2022 - End of lease

*For students in Solin Hall leases end June 30, 2022. Please take note that as per the Quebec Educational Lease: " A student who leases a room in an educational institution may not sublease the room or assign the lease (art. 1981 Civil Code of Quebec)".

All other first-year residence buildings including New Residence Hall, Carrefour Sherbrooke, La Citadelle, Douglas Hall, Molson Hall, Gardner Hall, McConnell Hall, and Royal Victoria College, leases end April 30, 2022.

Upper Year Undergraduate

Macdonald Campus

Withdrawal from Residences: January 1st, 2022 – April 30th, 2022 (end of lease)
Residence Rent oneCard
Laird Hall & EcoResidence Rent due for the entire duration of the lease. Valid for the duration of your studies at McGill. oneCard dollars are only refunded once you leave the university. 

In the event of a December graduation, please provide your name to the Housing Office as soon as possible. These students will be exempt from penalties and their leases will end on December 31, 2021.

Additional charges could apply if room keys are not returned to the respective front desk or if additional cleaning, maintenance, or damage repairs are incurred during the lease.

Possibility to assign lease to another McGill student not currently living in residences ((including students living in Macdonald Residences),  upon approval of Residence Admissions Office.

Housing oneCard

Rent due for the entire duration of the lease.

Valid for the duration of your studies at McGill.
