Digital Event Promotion
Promoting Events in Residences -Digital Slides ONLY
Students living in McGill Residences are part of a vibrant and active campus community. However, residence halls are first and foremost students’ homes, and Student Housing and Hospitality Services (SHHS) is committed to maintaining a peaceful, respectful, and solicitation-free living environment.
To balance this with the need for students to stay informed about campus life, SHHS allows certain digital event promotions—under specific guidelines. Paper flyers or posters are not permitted anywhere in McGill Residences.
What can be approved?
To be approved, your digital slide must meet all the following:
- From a Recognized Student Organization
The request must come from a group recognized by SSMU.
- No Event Conflicts
The promoted event must not conflict with any:- Inter-Residence Council (IRC) event
- Hall Council event in the same residence
- Follows Alcohol Policy
Content must comply with McGill’s alcohol policy.
- Respectful and Appropriate
- Must not target McGill Administration
- Must be respectful in tone and content
- Effort to Reach All Residents
A reasonable attempt must be made to share the promotion with all students living in residence.
What will not be approved?
Slides will not be approved if:
- They come from a non-SSMU recognized group
- They target McGill Administration
- They are commercial or for-profit in nature
SHHS reserves the right to limit the number of slides displayed and to reject any slide at its discretion.
