Important information:
-
Students returning after an academic absence (of one or more terms) or with Unsatisfactory standing must apply for readmission.
-
Readmission is neither automatic nor is it guaranteed.
-
Readmission applications will only be processed once any unpaid tuition or student loan holds are resolved.
-
Apply Early! Readmission requests are processed from the moment the module opens and in the order they are received.
-
You must monitor your readmission application and provide any requested information by the deadline to avoid cancellation.
-
If you no longer have access to Minerva, you must contact Service Point to be reactivated.
-
Newly admitted students who withdrew before the withdrawal with refund deadline must reapply through the Admissions Office. (Readmission does not apply to you.)
-
If your McGill email has been deactivated, you must provide a valid alternative email.
-
Review your Unofficial Transcript (Minerva > Student Menu > Student Records Menu > View Unofficial Transcript) to view your academic standing. This will impact the documents and information you must provide as part of your readmission application.
-
If readmitted, your tuition rate may differ, and you may need to provide updated proof of residency; for details, visit Student Accounts.
-
- Quebec students must have their legal status documentation up to date.
- International students must ensure their McGill record reflects their current immigration status via the Minerva "View your Tuition and Legal Status" page, maintain a valid Study Permit, CAQ, and Permanent Code throughout their studies, and submit a readmission request early if legal documents are needed; visit our Legal Documents page for info.

Students who studied at another university during their absence |
If final grades ARE NOT yet available: Email a PDF copy of your unofficial transcript(s), including all pages, from all schools that you have attended to readmission.science [at] mcgill.ca (readmission[dot]science[at]mcgill[dot]ca). Include your name and McGill ID in the subject line. If readmitted, you must arrange for official transcript(s) to be sent directly from the school(s) you attended to once final grades are available. Decisions
Readmission decisions are made on a rolling basis once your file is complete. To avoid delays, it's in your best interest to ensure your application is complete and follows all instructions on this page.
If approved for readmission, you must formally accept the Faculty's offer of readmission on Minerva. Your readmission is not complete until this step has been taken.
After you have accepted your offer, it is your responsibility to review your student record on Minerva (using your unofficial transcript) to confirm that all details are accurate. If you notice any errors or missing information, contact the Readmission Office promptly to have them corrected.
IMPORTANT: you must register for courses in the term for which you were readmitted. If you do not register for any courses that term, your student record will become inactive again, and you will be required to re-appeal for readmission if you wish to resume your studies in a later term.
Unsatisfactory readmission decisions
Under University regulations, if you are in Unsatisfactory standing at the end of the Winter term, you are not permitted to continue in your degree. In such cases, you may submit an appeal for readmission to the Faculty. The Faculty is under no obligation to readmit you if you did not maintain Satisfactory academic standing while you were a student. However, each appeal will be considered carefully based on the information provided.
Readmission decisions are final and may only be appealed if new information becomes available or if your situation has materially changed since the decision was made. Disagreement with the outcome is not, on its own, grounds for appeal.
In some cases, you may be required to take a break from your studies before becoming eligible to appeal for readmission - such determinations are also final and not open to appeal.
