Departments in the Faculty of Arts
Students who wish to apply for a 600-Level Arts course must communicate with the Department offering the course for contact information.
- Request that the Department complete and submit the Departmental Approval Webform to confirm their approval (and attest to the approval of the instructor). Note: if the Department is outside the Faculty of Science they may have their own approval process. You must still inform them that you are a Science student and require Faculty approval BEFORE they can authorize registration. If you register for the course without completing the Faculty webform and obtaining Faculty approval, you risk being de-registered from the course.
- If you are a Visiting or Exchange student, you must also send a copy of your home university transcript and obtain email approval from your home university (granting permission for you to register in a 600-level course). The transcript and approval must be sent by email to advisor.science [at] mcgill.ca.
- Make sure your form was successfully submitted. Once a student submits the online request form, they will receive an automated email (from Microsoft Power Apps) that includes a copy of these instructions. Applicants should check their "junk" folder and email advisor.science [at] mcgill.ca if they do not receive the confirmation email within 1 hour of submitting their application.
Decisions
- All applicants will receive a decision by email (to their McGill email account).
- If your request is approved, you will receive a confirmation email that includes instructions on how to register for the course in Minerva.
Contact
-
If you have questions (or if the instructor or departmental approver have questions), please contact advisor.science [at] mcgill.ca.
