K/KE Incomplete Coursework Contract Forms for Graduate Students
Graduate K Form
- Note the GPS' policies: Extensions could be given for a maximum of four months (i.e., the end of the following term). It is recommended that a student not hold more than two K contracts simultaneously to prevent interference between concurrent contracts and with later coursework. A struggling student may benefit more from a leave of absence than a course extension. Graduate students must inform their GPD, in addition to their course instructor, if they wish to secure a K contract. Should a student wish to contest the decision of a GPD or course instructor to deny a K contract, they are permitted to appeal the decision to a associatedeans.gps [at] mcgill.ca (GPS Associate Dean).
Graduate KE Form
- Note the GPS' policies: Further extension is only granted with the approval of a GPS Associate Dean. A KE contract must be requested before the initial K contract expires. KE contracts are awarded for up to 6 months from the date of signature. Students with a KE contract should not enroll in more than one additional course until the KE is cleared. Students with two concurrent KE contracts should not enroll in any additional courses until their KE’s are cleared. KE contracts should be based on an obstacle (e.g., illness) faced by the student. A student cannot be awarded a KE in one course when they have been able to complete other courses in the same semester. A KE contract will not be approved if the student did not have time to finish the coursework during the K contract or the student's time has been compromised by other courses or employment.
