Maria Papastergiou

My academic background consists of studies in psychology and social work completed at McGill University. More recently, I worked in clinical psychiatry, where I was privileged to work with clients living with psychiatric diagnoses and psychological difficulties, and I was able to gain first-hand knowledge of the mental health field. At present, I am pursuing graduate studies in psychiatry under Dr Suzanne King's supervision, and I am conducting research investigating clinical and psychosocial aspects of functioning in schizophrenia. Other areas of interest include family therapy, issues of quality of life and recovery in mental illness, continuity of care and the role of cultural issues in mental health services, psycholinguistics.
