Mylène spent more than 15 years in the performing arts. She studied contemporary dance at the Université du Québec à Montréal, where she was fascinated by anatomy, the functioning of the moving body, summative evaluations in education and motor development. After an injury, she turned to musical theater to expand her vocal and expressive possibilities. During these years, she developed the ability to decode emotions, including those conveyed in a text or deployed in the theatre, as well as an insight into the psychological construction of the characters, while confirming her leadership skills. Despite this fascinating world, Mylène, after the birth of her three sons, re-invented herself as a birth coach/midwife and Naturopath in Perinatology. Since 2011, she has been guiding women and couples on the path towards parenthood by, among other things, exploring ways to help women give birth in confidence by reducing stressors as much as possible. Led by her incessant quest for knowledge, she decided to continue her education in the field of psychology. After receiving her BA from the Université de Montréal, Mylène joined Dr. Suzanne King's laboratory at the Douglas Institute in order to develop her research project for her Master’s of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Montreal. Mylène will study the potential impact of maternal stress during pregnancy of obstetric complications.
