INTERNATIONAL TRAINEE LOOKING FOR A FELLOWSHIP?

Canadian Residency Programs consist of subspecialty training (R4-R5 and R4-R6) often referred to as fellowship programs internationally, as well as core residency training (R1-R4).

What is a Canadian Residency Program?

A Canadian Residency Program consists of specialty and subspecialty programs (R1-4, R4-5, R4-6) fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).

What is a Canadian Fellowship Program?

A Canadian Fellowship Program (post-residency) is a well-defined clinical and/or clinical-research experience of equal or greater than 1 year which is not accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).

Applicants to fellowship training programs must have satisfactorily completed residency training as well as either Royal College or Board Certification.  Candidates must be deemed eligible to receive a training card by the Collège des Médecins du Québec.
