A 0.8 cm defect is evident just below the aortic valve. The proximal ascending aorta is dilated.
History: Unknown.
Comment: The specimen was sent to Maude Abbott in 1907 by Dr Charles Martin, Dean of the McGill Medical Faculty from 1923 to 1936. Martin was studying in London when fire ravaged Abbott’s Medical Museum and managed to acquire many specimens from St Bartholomew's Hospital in an attempt to replenish its stock.
