Specialists in teaching and learning, the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) is largely known for its Teaching Certification programs with options at the undergraduate level (B.Ed.) and graduate level (MATL). DISE offers an array of Bachelor’s, Master's, and Ph.D. programs that explore topics in curriculum and pedagogy, advocacy and social change, leadership and administration related to scholastic environments, and other global contexts. Graduate-level certificates for working educators and professional development are also offered through DISE.
DISE researchers are involved in an array of projects that examine STEM education, arts education, language and literacy education, innovation in teaching, lifelong learning, social theory and policy, leadership and transdisciplinary collaboration, among other areas.
Welcome to DISE!

Through our Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning (MATL), we prepare students to become certified teachers in Quebec and beyond. We collaborate with local elementary and secondary schools to deliver our teacher education programs, drawing on the distinctive multilingual and multicultural character of Montreal’s educational landscape.
Our B.A.(Education) in Global Contexts, Masters, and PhD in Educational Studies programs prepare educational leaders, scholars, and changemakers within a variety of educational settings.
DISE’s graduate certificates enable in-service teachers and administrators to grow through professional development, preparing them for leadership or specialized roles in scholastic environments.
Our students become critical scholars, creative problem-solvers, educational researchers, administrators, teacher educators, classroom expert teachers, program developers, curriculum designers, and embark on many other careers that value education’s wide-ranging and transferable skillset.
We invite you to learn more about what DISE has to offer and how you might become a member of our dynamic community. Our dedicated academic and administrative teams look forward to supporting you.
Warm wishes,
Dr. Bronwen Low
Chair, Department of Integrated Studies in Education
