The Crépeau Centre, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, is a warm and welcoming environment where you can develop your knowledge of Quebec civil law in both languages.
Each summer, the Centre recruits French- and English-speaking students with a high level of bilingualism to work on the Private Law Dictionary and Bilingual Lexicons - Persons. An information session is held in March. Stay tuned!

Research Associates
The Paul-André Crépeau Centre employs one or more professional researchers during the academic year to conduct legal research projects. The duration of the position is determined according to the Center's needs.
The Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law is looking for a candidate to fill a part-time position of Research Assistant within its team. The Research Assistant will perform various tasks such as :
- Research, writing and revising revising terminological entries for the Private Law Dictionary and Bilingual Lexicons - Persons project;
- Occasional research in Quebec private law;
- Training and assisting the Centre's student researchers in their research;
- Editing, revision and translation work;
- Assistance in the organization of scientific events (e.g., Civil Law Workshops, Institute of Jurilinguistics).
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in law;
- Strong knowledge and interest in civil and Québec private law, notably in law of persons;
- Interest in legal research and writing;
- Proficient in French and English;
- Autonomy, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail and thoroughness;
- Member of the Chambre des notaires du Québec (an asset).
As a general rule, the Crépeau Centre team works on site at the Centre’s offices located at 3690 Peel Street. Once fully integrated into the Centre and with the approval of the management team, staff members may perform up to 20% of their duties remotely. A greater proportion of remote work may be authorized where circumstances justify it.

Visiting Scholars
Each year the Paul-André Crépeau Centre hosts researchers who wish to deepen their knowledge of private and comparative law as part of their sabbaticals, doctoral projects, etc.
Visiting scholars stay for a maximum of 12 months.
