Promotion of Tenure-Track Professors and Librarians

Promotion Type Description
Assistant Professor to Associate Professor

Promotion from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor includes consideration for tenure and therefore falls under Section 7, Article 7.4 of the Regulations Relating to the Employment of Tenure Track and Tenured Academic Staff.

A tenure schedule is prepared each summer in accordance with the Regulations and distributed to Departmental Chairs, Deans and candidates. For more information, consult the Information on Tenure web page from Secretariat.

Associate Professor to Full Professor

The Regulations for the granting of promotion to Full Professor are contained in Section 8 of the Regulations Relating to the Employment of Tenure Track and Tenured Academic Staff.

Effective June 1st, 2005, individuals promoted from Associate Professor to Full Professor, and who are part of the 2006 cohort and subsequent cohorts, will receive a flat increase of $5,000 to salary.

For those staff promoted as part of the 2005 or earlier cohorts, there is no salary increase awarded on promotion to Full Professor.

Assistant Librarian to Associate Librarian

Promotion from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor includes consideration for tenure and therefore falls under Section 3 of the Regulations Relating to the Employment of Librarian Staff.

A tenure schedule is prepared each summer in accordance with the Regulations and distributed to the Dean of Libraries and candidates.

Associate Librarian to Full Librarian

The Regulations for the granting of promotion to Full Librarian are contained in Section 4 of the Regulations Relating to the Employment of Librarian Staff.

Effective June 1st, 2005, individuals promoted from Associate Librarian to Full Librarian (tenure-stream), and who are part of the 2006 cohort and subsequent cohorts, will receive a flat increase of $5,000 to salary.

For those staff promoted as part of the 2005 or earlier cohorts, there is no salary increase awarded on promotion to Full Librarian.

Procedure

 

  1. The Department (or Faculty where there is no Department) shall initiate the Change Job business process in Workday using the promotion reason type.

    • Select "Promotion Academic" for promotions from one rank to the next.

    • Select "Promotion Academic with Tenure" when tenure is granted with the promotion.
