Peer Mentoring
The Peer Mentor Program is dedicated to students who are currently registered with our office. In this Peer Mentor Program, both mentor and mentee are students who have active academic accommodations plans through Student Accessibility and Achievement. The program is designed to enrich the university experience of McGill students, from diverse backgrounds, who face barriers in university. Our goal is to create an inclusive, supportive, and transparent environment, where students can feel safe exploring and accessing support based on their individual needs.
When matched with a Peer Mentor, you'll meet regularly (often weekly). You could cover topics such as:
- Identifying and working towards short- and long-term academic and career goals
- Transitioning to university
- School-work-life balance
- Developing networks and skillsets
- Achieving academic goals with learning strategies (test-taking, time management, working in labs, etc.)
- Managing stressors
- Learning about resources around campus, and more!
Students are paired with a mentor based on academic background, extracurricular interests, and individual preferences.
