Access to McGill Library e-resources to cease for all ineligible accounts as of February 16, 2015

Published: 5 February 2015

As of Monday, February 16, 2015, access to McGill Library e-resources from off campus will end for all ineligible McGill affiliates. The Library's license agreements for electronic resources generally only cover off-campus access for current McGill students, faculty and staff.

In July 2013, in an effort to comply with licensing agreements for electronic content, the McGill Library began a process of analyzing McGill user and affiliated accounts to ensure that only eligible users were able to access the Library’s e-resources. This work has now been completed.

Due to a technical issue, the removal of access to McGill Library e-resources for unauthorized accounts was delayed after the originally announced date in January.

McGill students, faculty, staff or other authorized users will continue to have access to the full range of McGill Library e-resources. For more information, see: Accessing online resources.

Affiliate hospitals: People working in affiliate hospitals will only have access to McGill Library e-resources if they are individually affiliated with McGill University as a faculty or staff member, student, or medical resident. See: Affiliated hospital access to McGill e-resources.

WebVPN: Access to e-resources via Web VPN for all users will also cease on February 16, 2015. Access to e-resources through the primary McGill VPN will continue for authorized users.

If you have any questions regarding your access to e-resources, please contact your branch library.
