Resources

Need some extra help? Here are some resources folks commonly use with this toolkit.

Photography and images

McGill photography is available in the McGill Media Library. New images are added regularly, so be sure to check back.

Looking for something more personalized? Graphic Design Services can help with custom illustrations, banners, and more.

When you can’t get the real thing, stock can be a helpful alternative. Here are some sites that offer free, high-quality images:

You can also try large sites like Unsplash and Pexels, but you'll need to bring a critical eye: the artistic merit of the images can vary widely!

In all cases, be sure you understand the licensing and attribution requirements of the site and the photos you choose. These options are free, but sometimes you'll need to credit the site or the photographer.

Custom, vendor-built, or non-WMS sites

Are you involved in the design or management of a site outside our centrally-supported systems (e.g. the WMS, blogs.mcgill.ca, etc.)? Check out our Custom or vendor-built project toolkit for detailed information on requirements and resources. Notably, McGill DS can help you (or your vendor) get a head start on the basic elements of our brand.
