French Baccalaureate

French Baccalaureate transfer credit:

Up to 30 credits may be granted for the French Baccalaureate earned in 'premier groupe' for the examinations of either the reformed Bac 2021 or the previous Série (L, ES, or S). Additionally, students who completed 'spécialités' in mathematics and sciences in the Bac 2021, or Série S in the previous Bac, all with grades of '10' or better, may be exempt from specific McGill math and science courses, subject to faculty and program rules. 

If you believe that you have mastered the material taught in a freshman math and/or science course(s) for which an exemption is NOT granted (as per the charts below), you may be eligible to write an admission placement exam. For information, see www.mcgill.ca/exams/dates/science .

McGill reserves the right to change the transfer credit recognition policy without prior notice.

Notes:

* Exemption is granted for MATH 140 as most topics of this McGill course have been covered in the ‘Spé’ mathematiques (in 1re & Tale).
However, as this reformed Bac 2021 is a new curriculum, should any student in the Faculty of Science wish to register for MATH 140, they may do so. This must be arranged with the advisor in the Faculty, and not later than the end of the Fall 2021 term course add/drop period.

** Exemption is granted for CHEM 110, however students who plan to take organic chemistry or other higher level chemistry courses need to know that some topics of CHEM 110 have not been covered in the ‘Physique-Chimie Specialité’, namely Intro Quantum Chemistry, Molecular Orbital Theory and Intro Transition Metals. Students may wish to self-study these topics before proceeding to subsequent chemistry courses.
