Greg Fox- Affiliate member

Professor Greg Fox is Director of the NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Tuberculosis at the University of Sydney, Australia. He has led clinical trials and research relating to infectious diseases and chronic diseases internationally. His research, in combination with guideline development work, have contributed to changes in global TB policies and clinical practice. His research includes multicentre studies into the prevention and detection of tuberculosis and other lung diseases. Professor Fox works clinically as a Respiratory Physician at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Current research projects:

  • FLIRT Trial - A phase 3 clinical trial evaluating the effectiveness of a fluoroquinolone-containing regimen to treat isoniazid-resistant TB
  • PHOENIX Trial - A phase 3 trial evaluating the prevention of drug-resistant TB with delamanid versus isoniazid. This trial is being implemented in Vietnam, by the Sydney Vietnam Institute, through the ACTG trials network.
  • SAPPHIRE - a program of research evaluating the scale-up of community-wide screening for tuberculosis in Ca Mau, Vietnam.
