Julia Heron is a Public Health and Preventive Medicine specialist and the Médecin responsable de la tuberculose at the Montréal Public Health Department.
Dr. Heron completed her medical degree and residency training at McGill University, where she also earned a Master’s degree in Epidemiology. Prior to studying medicine, Dr. Heron obtained a law degree at the Université de Montréal. This background informs her understanding of the legal and policy dimensions of public health practice. Her professional interests include tuberculosis prevention and control, tuberculosis surveillance systems, and improving collaboration between clinical providers, public health teams, and community partners.
