Pascale Gendreau is a counsellor (OCCOQ) and psychotherapist (OPQ) with extensive experience supporting medical student mental health. She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from McGill University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia. Pascale was the first Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Wellness Consultant appointed at McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

For over a decade, Pascale has provided confidential, short‑term counselling to medical students across all four years of the MDCM program. Her clinical work addresses the complex personal, academic, and professional challenges of medical training. Her approach is empathetic, mindful, and collaborative, with careful attention to each student’s context, goals, and lived experience. She works with learners to develop personalized strategies that support psychological flexibility, adaptability, and academic engagement.

Pascale serves as co‑creator and principal facilitator of the Montreal MDCM Longitudinal Self‑Curriculum, a four‑year, evidence‑based well‑being program grounded in the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model and reflective practice. Through workshops, support groups, and conferences tailored to medical learners, the program supports professional identity formation aligned with personal values. A dynamic and engaging educator, Pascale works closely with the Medical Student Wellness Committee and student leaders to ensure learner perspectives meaningfully shape curricular content. She regularly partners with students as co‑facilitators, integrating clinical expertise with lived experience.

Pascale is a dynamic speaker and has developed and delivered numerous presentations designed specifically for medical learners. She also facilitates various support groups, such as Ice Cream Rounds and  CaRMS groups. She has developed expertise for emotional support around the matching process and collaborates closely with the UGME Career Advisor.

In parallel with her clinical and educational work, Pascale is actively involved in research on medical student well‑being. She has authored peer‑reviewed articles and presented at academic conferences.

In addition to her work with medical students, Pascale has served as a clinical supervisor for trainees as part of her role as a course lecturer in the Master’s program in Counselling Psychology at McGill University.
