Welcome to the School of Biomedical Sciences at McGill University
The School of Biomedical Sciences (SBMS) was created in April 2020 as part of Project Renaissance, a strategic planning exercise for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The School federates all biomedical research and education activities within the Faculty. Our nine constituent units bring together internationally renowned teams in all areas of biomedical research, creating stimulating environments with innovative and interdisciplinary training programs.

Barbara Hales
September 15, 1949 – July 12, 2024
McGill's own Barbara Hales, an eminent James McGill Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, passed away on Friday, July 12th. She was a luminary in the fields of developmental and reproductive toxicology and had an illustrious career marked by significant contributions to understanding the impacts of teratogens and environmental chemicals on health. She was a dear friend, teacher, and colleague and will be greatly missed by all.
