Species Range Expansions – Drivers and Impacts

Special presentation by  Bruce Bennett (Coordinator, Yukon Conservation Data Centre, Environment | Biodiversity Unit, Whitehorse, YT)

Species movements into Yukon is not new, however, the rate at which new species are arriving and the rate of species range expansion is. The pace of change is likely based on the effects of a changing climate, which has been the greatest in Canada in Yukon. This presentation will use examples to discuss how species composition and habitat shift is affecting species dynamics, and how the Yukon Conservation Data Centre is working with citizen science to help capture and document the change.
