Role: Science Education Fellow, Teaching & Learning Initiatives
Email: heidi.dewling [at] mcgill.ca
Biography: Heidi is currently a PhD candidate in Chemistry, where she studies viral polymerases using single molecule fluorescence microscopy. Her passion for science education was sparked by her experience as an instructor with science camps Brilliant Labs and SuperNOVA and further solidified as a teaching assistant. She believes that accessibility and inclusion are at the core of a successful learning environment, exhibited by her experience as a member of At The Root’s STEM Students’ National Advisory Council. With much of her free time spent singing in a choir or reading a good book, she believes that interdisciplinarity and creativity are often underappreciated assets in science education. Her goal is to incorporate these values into her work as a Science Education Fellow to help support and foster the thriving teaching community at McGill.
