Biography: Stephen believes that studying the sciences can inspire in each one of us a deep awe for the wondrous world we inhabit. His initial interest in Chemistry came spending his adolescent years in the kitchen, watching intricate chemical transformations turn into flavors and textures that could be enjoyed.
Stephen is currently a PhD student in Chemistry. His experiences in chemistry labs and peer mentoring roles during his undergraduate years clarified his desire to teach chemistry as a career. He hopes to make the field feel exciting and accessible for students who will become future researchers, healthcare professionals, and world-changers.
At OSE, Stephen is helping to develop the new Chemistry Teaching Assistant Program (ChemTAP). He also contributes to a project studying how students' perceptions of their learning environments can be shaped by professors to potentially promote student well-being and improved academic performance.
