Mélanie Gauthier is a Faculty Lecturer at McGill University’s Ingram School of Nursing. She teaches in both the Graduate and Undergraduate programs and is working towards developing their critical care curriculum.
Prior to this appointment, Mélanie worked as a nurse clinician at McGill University Health Centre’s – Glen Campus intensive care unit and actively participated in the unit’s education and quality improvement committees. She continues to practice on this unit.
She is currently Vice-President and Director on the Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses’ (CACCN) National Board of Directors. She spent her first term on the Board as Co-Chair of the Professional Development Committee. This has granted her the opportunity to lead the revision of CACCN’s Standards for Critical Care Nursing Practice and participate in the competency development and item writing sessions for the Canadian Nurses Association’s (CNA) Critical Care Specialty Certification Exam (Adult). She is now Chair of the Partner Relations Committee working towards forming strong working relationships with critical care partners.
Mélanie completed her undergraduate degree at McGill University and obtained a Master in Intensive Care Nursing from the University of Sydney, Australia. She holds a CNA certification in Critical Care Nursing (Adult).
