The goal of the President’s Prize for Public Engagement Through Media is to recognize outstanding achievement by members of the McGill community who share their knowledge with the media and the public, enhancing the University's reputation. They play a vital role in supporting McGill University’s commitment to being of service to society and engaging with the broader community.
Prizes will be given out in four categories. The winner in each category will receive a cheque for $5,000.
- Prize for Groups – for groups of undergraduate or graduate students that engage with the external community and/or the media.
- Prize for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows – for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are just starting to work with the media and engage with the public.
- Prize for Emerging Researchers and Professors – for those who are 15 years or less beyond their PhD or other highest degree. Alternatively, for affiliate or adjunct faculty members, academic associates, course or faculty lecturers or Professors of Practice, it must be 15 years or less since you entered the work force or began to gain experience in your field.
- Prize for Established Academics and Professors – for those who are 16 years or more beyond their PhD or other highest degree. Alternatively, for course or faculty lecturers, affiliate or adjunct faculty members, academic associates and Professors of Practice, it must be more than 16 years since you entered the work force or began to gain experience in your field.

The deadline to submit your application is December 31, 2025, at midnight. Winners and runners-up will be notified by the end of March 2026.
