Banner and related information systems
Update: Starting March 2026 Banner INB (Internet Native Banner) forms will be updated to Banner Admin Pages, the latest version of Banner's administrative interface. Both systems will be available during this transition. INB form users will be contacted when their individual forms are scheduled for upgrade. Note: Please bookmark and check this page on a regular basis for updates moving forward.
Banner is an Oracle™ enterprise database used by McGill University to store all student and financial data. While the database itself is called Banner, there are several user interfaces and systems that access this data:
- Banner INB (Internet Native Banner) - is a web-based interface used by administrative staff to perform the tasks for which they are responsible. It is not used by students or instructors.
- Banner Admin Pages - is a browser based interface used by administrative staff to perform the tasks for which they are responsible. It will replace the existing INB (Internet Native Banner) forms. It is not used by students or instructors.
- Minerva - a web interface used by students, faculty, and administrative staff, for both self-service and administrative tasks.
- Data Warehouse (DWH) - a snapshot of data from Banner that is used for reporting purposes. It is refreshed on a nightly basis
- ApplicationXtender - is a desktop and a web application that is used for viewing, scanning and indexing documents and it integrates with Banner.
To access Banner remotely (off-campus), you must first set up a VPN connection. When using VPN, be mindful to disconnect when done, as the availability of connections is limited.
