Mandatory Supervision Orientation

Graduate supervision is the backbone of graduate student success. In 2014, Senate approved a revision to the Regulations on Graduate Student Supervision, which mandates supervision orientation for new faculty members.

Hosted by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) and Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) twice a year in October and May, the orientation provides an overview of the policy framework for supervision at McGill, best practices in graduate supervision, and key resources.

This orientation is mandatory for new faculty members, but recommended for all. Targeted invitations are sent to new faculty members through their respective faculties.
