This section provides graduate students and their supervisors with information about the many activities and milestones of a graduate degree, starting with graduate admissions.

To know more about the purposes of a graduate degree or coursework, see the first steps in a graduate program subsection.

The beginnings of guided research subsection has relevant information for both Master’s and doctoral students about ethical conduct of research, and strategies for reading and writing.

Doctoral students will have comprehensive exams, and then begin to emerge as independent researchers. Finally, they must write and orally defend their thesis.
