Tenure-track appointment in Critical Minerals for Sustainability

The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) at McGill University (www.mcgill.ca/eps/) invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Critical Minerals for Sustainability at the rank of Assistant Professor.

We seek a colleague whose research focuses on the processes that generate the critical mineral deposits required to support the transition to a more sustainable society. We welcome candidates who investigate the distribution, concentration, and behavior of critical minerals in natural systems through the integration of field, laboratory, and/or theoretical approaches. Candidates should demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement and an innovative research program with strong potential to attract external funding.

The selected candidate will provide supervision and mentorship to a diverse cohort of undergraduate and graduate students and contribute to field-, laboratory-, and classroom-based teaching by delivering courses in mineral deposits, geochemistry, and other topics in their field of expertise. All McGill faculty are expected to engage in service activities within their unit, the university, and the broader scholarly community.

The selected candidate must have a PhD in the Earth Sciences at the time of appointment. While the language of instruction at McGill University is English, fluency in French is an asset. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The application should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, the names and email addresses of three references, a 1–2 page research statement that outlines the candidate’s past research accomplishments and proposed research program at McGill, and a 1–2 page teaching statement that describes the candidate’s teaching philosophy, experience, and how their teaching interests align with the EPS academic programs. The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) at McGill University (www.mcgill.ca/eps/) invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Solid Earth Processes at the rank of Assistant Professor.

We seek a colleague who investigates the chemical, mineralogical, and physical composition of the solid Earth and its interactions with other Earth systems. We welcome candidates whose interdisciplinary research integrates geological observations with analytical, experimental, and/or theoretical approaches and complements existing strengths in the department. Candidates should demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement and an original research program with strong potential to attract external funding.
