Wilderness First Aid [20h]
The Dept. of Geography is organizing two 20 hour Wilderness First Aid course in March.
Friday March 15, 2024 evening 18h00 - 22h00,
Saturday and Sunday March 16 and 17, 09h00 – 18h00.
AND
Friday March 22, 2024 evening 18h00 - 22h00,
and Saturday and Sunday March 23 and 24, 09h00 – 18h00.
Trainings includes
- CPR and AED cardiac defibrilation.
- First Aid treatment of injuries - basics and specifics for remote locations.
- Assessing and stabilizing injuries in preparation for emergency evacuation.
- 3 - 4 outdoor simulations near Burnside Hall.
The course will be conducted by Atout Plus, that has done courses on campus for many years.
Certification and first aid books will be provided.
Some research grants cover the cost of Wilderness First Aid training, so ask your supervisors.
Cost. The final cost per participant will depend on the number of participants in the class.
Minimum group size is 6 persons, and maximum group size is 12.
For example for a group of 10, the cost per participant would be tentatively $250 each + taxes.
The cost per participant will be confirmed in early March.

Location of course. Burnside Hall, 5th floor GIC facility.
Your ID card will need to coded to enter the building and the GIC for those dates.
