DMD Advanced Standing for Foreign Trained Dentists

Update for prospective advanced standing DMD students - 2025-2026 admission cycle

We are pleased to announce an important change to the curriculum for our Advanced Standing DMD program. The program length will be extended from two and half years to three years starting in September 2025 to provide a more comprehensive educational experience for our students, aligned with our new DMD curriculum, and the program will begin in September instead of December.

Due to this change, the admissions cycle for the next academic year will be shortened. Applications will open in January 2026 and close on March 1, 2026. Candidates will need to submit all required documents, including transcripts and proof of French proficiency, by the application deadline of March 1. A manual dexterity test will be conducted after March 2026.

The DMD Advanced Standing for Foreign Trained Dentists is intended for graduates of international dental programs that are not accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). Internationally trained dentists that would like to complete their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree should apply for this program.

Successful candidates will be awarded their DMD degree after completing three years of the DMD program. Students accepted into the DMD Advanced Standing for Foreign Trained Dentists are placed in the second year of the four-year DMD program.

The number of positions available for this program varies every year depending on the spaces available. Successful candidates will begin the program in September.

Space availability: TBD
