Biography: 

Dr. Meguid is a Professor of Civil Engineering at McGill University with expertise in geotechnical engineering. He has been conducting interdisciplinary research and teaching in three main areas: (i) buried infrastructure, (ii) geosynthetic engineering, and (iii) transportation geotechnics. He has been involved in a number of projects on these topics, which has facilitated the transfer of his research results to practice.

Dr. Meguid holds the William Scott Research Chair in Civil Engineering at McGill University. He is currently a member of the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design at McGill University and an active member of the ASCE G-I Geosynthetics Technical Committee. Professor Meguid is the Editor-in-Chief of the Geotechnical and Geological Engineering journal.

Dr. Meguid has received a number of awards for his research and teaching activities, including "The Geosynthetics Award" by the Canadian Geotechnical Society in 2022 and the "Samuel and Ida Fromson Award" for Outstanding Teaching in the Faculty of Engineering in 2010. He was also nominated by the Department for the Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 2011.
