It’s called Phylo, and it’s a computer game with a scientific mission: to solve the gaps in genome alignment so biologists can better understand the causes of disease. It’s the brainchild of a group of computer scientists and students at McGill University.
William Caplin, a specialist in the theory of musical form and James McGill professor of music theory at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, is one of eight outstanding Canadian researchers to be awarded a Canada Council for the Arts Killam Research Fellowship. The Council announced the recipients of the grants today.

Two McGill researchers have been awarded the distinction of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellow.
