Victoria Anson, a fourth-year Materials Engineering Co-op Program student, received the Lucy Rosato Undergraduate Scholarship in Science and Engineering at the 63rd Annual Conference of Metallurgists (COM 2024) in Halifax. This is the highest undergraduate student award granted by the Hydrometallurgy Section of the Metallurgy and Materials Society (MetSoc) under the Canadian Institute of Mining Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).
Over 300 attendees gathered on May 8 and 9 at the McGill University Centre for the HBHL Symposium 2024—a two-day event showcasing the latest advances in neuroscience and brain health research. The Symposium featured keynote addresses from Kate Webb (McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School), Alberto Cairo (University of Miami), Gillian Einstein (University of Toronto) and Noah Philip (Brown University), covering topics ranging from data visualization to health equity, PTSD and sex differences in Alzheimer’s disease.
The Lin Centre’s 2024 Annual Lecture, ‘Is the Disorder of Our Times Unprecedented?’ was delivered by Professor Ayşe Zarakol, Professor of International Relations at the University of Cambridge, on March 27th. Professor Zarakol’s lecture was exemplary of the kind of cross-disciplinary, cross-era, cross-regional research on social and political ideas, orders and transformation that the Lin Centre seeks to encourage and promote!
In a significant milestone for the Trans Canada Initiative project, 'Overcoming Therapy Resistance in Gastro-Esophageal Adenocarcinoma' (TREAT-CANADA), the project's first annual in-person meeting on October 27th, 2023, brought together professionals, experts and patient advocates in the fight against therapy resistance in gastro-esophageal adenocarcinoma. The project has received $7.5 million from the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

On 21-23 June 2023, the Directorate-General of Legal Affairs of the German Federal Ministry of Defence hosted the Conference on the “McGill Manual on International Law Applicable to Military Uses of Outer Space” (MILAMOS). The three-day event was organised at the Federal Academy for Security Policy (Bundesakademie für Sicherheitspolitik, BAKS), and held at the historic Schönhausen Palace in Berlin, Germany.
