Application Process

This is a two-step application process.

Step 1: Students are asked to first fill out our Intent to Apply form by Sunday, February 9th 2025, 11:59 PM. This form will constitute a letter of intent and will help our team plan for the review process.

Step 2: Students and supervisors will have until Sunday, February 23rd 2025, 11:59 PM to fill out their respective application forms.

How to Prepare for the Application Form

Student Application Form

Before filling out the application form, it is important to confirm that you meet the Student Eligibility requirements.

The Student Application Form will ask for the following information:

  • Section 1: Student Information
    • Full name.
    • Preferred Name (if applicable).
    • Preferred Pronouns.
    • McGill Student ID.
    • McGill email address.
    • Personal email address (in case we cannot reach your McGill email address).
    • Faculty & Department/Program.
    • Academic Year & Expected Graduation time (disclaimer: students expected to graduate before they can start the research project in Summer 2025 cannot apply for this award).
    • Major(s) and minor(s), if applicable.
    • Unofficial McGill Transcript (as a PDF attachment).
    • The full names and Faculty & Department of their primary and secondary supersivors.
    • If applicable: summer courses, extra-curricular activities, scholarships & awards.
    • General Acknowledgments
    • Acknowledgment of student availability for the McCAIS Annual Symposium in the Fall 2025 semester.
  • Section 2: Research Project Proposal
    • Proposed Research Start and End Date.
    • Expected number of hours of work per week.
    • Expected number of meetings between supervisors and student per week.
    • The researcher themes.
    • The Research Project Title.
    • Project Description (character limit: 4,000)
      • The goals and objectives of the research project;
      • The expected outcomes and deliverables;
      • The student's role in the research project;
      • The supervisors' role in the research project;
      • The learning goals for the student;
      • The mentorship goals for the supervisors
    • Supplementary material may be uploaded into the form.
    • In what ways will principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion be integrated into (i) the research design, and (ii) development of the research team? For more information on EDI at McGill, please visit their website here.
    • Confirm if the supervisor(s) will be able to fund the entire amount of $3,700.00 towards the $8,700.00 Undergraduate Award.

Supervisors' Application Form

Before filling out the application form, it is important to confirm that both supervisors meet the Supervisor Eligibility requirements.

The Supervisors Application Form will ask for the following information:

  • Section 1: Primary Supersivor Information
    • Full name
    • Preferred Name (if applicable)
    • Preferred Pronouns
    • McGill email
    • Faculty and Department/Program
    • Areas of expertise
    • Most recent CV (to be uploaded in PDF format)
    • General acknowledgment
  • Section 2: Secondary Supersivor Information
    • Full name
    • Preferred Name (if applicable)
    • Preferred Pronouns
    • McGill email
    • Faculty and Department/Program
    • Areas of expertise
    • Most recent CV (to be uploaded in PDF format)
    • General acknowledgment
